In commemoration of Professor Stefania Spanò, and in agreement with the family, the Fondazione Abruzzese per le Scienze della Vita ONLUS (FASVO) announces the call for the 2022 applications for the award of 1 (one) 6-month Scholarship for a Research Project in Cell Biology or Molecular Microbiology, to be carried out abroad. A list of potential host laboratories is included here

Amount
The gross amount of the Scholarship will be €1,800 (one thousand and eight hundred euros) per month, for a period of 6 months. Reimbursement of further expenses up to €1,200 (one thousand and two hundred euros) for the duration of the Scholarship will be recognized upon presentation of receipts.
Eligibility
The Scholarship is reserved for a woman who can demonstrate strong family or personal links to the home Regions of Professor Stefania Spanò (Abruzzo/ Molise), and who holds a second level (Masters) degree in scientific disciplines, obtained from an Italian University from up to 3 years before the expiry of the call (see further below).
Deadlines
Applications must be sent via pec to fondazioneabruzzoscienza@pec.it, by 31 May, 2022. The winner will be announced by 30 June, 2021. The Project activities abroad must be completed by 30 June, 2023.
Conditions of eligibility
1- Be a woman.
2- Be able to demonstrate strong links with Abruzzo and/or Molise.
3- Have a second level degree (Masters) in a scientific discipline.
4- Have graduated after 31 May, 2020.
5- Be able to complete a Cell Biology or Molecular Microbiology Project lasting 6 months in a laboratory located abroad, by 30 June 2023.
1- Part 1 of the application will be written in Italian, and comprise:
a. Motivation (All. 1)
b. Link to the territory (All.1).
2- Part 2 of the application will be written in English, and comprise:
a. Details of the Host Laboratory and summary the Research Project (All.2)
b. Curriculum vitae
c. Acceptance letter from the host institution (usually signed by the Head of Department or equivalent)
3- Copy of your degree certificate, certified or self-certified according to Law.
4- Photocopy of your tax ID card.
5- Photocopy of a valid Identity Document.
Evaluation
Based on their application, each Applicant will be evaluated by two different panels:
Panel 1 will be composed of Scientists and Lay Members, who will score Part 1 of the application.
Panel 2 will be composed of International Experts in the fields of Cell Biology and Molecular Microbiology, who will evaluate and score Part 2 of the application.
The candidate with the highest combined score from the two Panels will be awarded the scholarship. In the case of an equal combined score for two or more Applicants, the Scholarship will be awarded to the Applicant with the highest score assigned by Panel 2.

NOTE: A score of 0 in part 1b (Links to the territory) will define the Applicant as ineligible for the award, independent of any score assigned by Panel 2.
